I began woodworking decades ago, though much of my early career kept me traveling and living abroad, far from tools and sawdust. When I returned to academia and settled in Midland, Michigan, I finally had the space and rhythm to create again. What began as a few small furniture projects gradually turned into pen making after an older craftsman encouraged me to give it a try. His enthusiasm sparked something that stayed.

Lionwood Creations is my way of staying connected to that craft. Each pen begins as a carefully selected piece of material, sometimes wood, sometimes resin, sometimes local, sometimes exotic, and is shaped, polished, and finished by hand in my workshop. I use traditional techniques alongside modern tools like CNC and laser engraving to achieve clean precision while preserving the character of handmade work.

I don’t aim to build a factory or a luxury brand. I simply enjoy making objects that are useful, personal, and made to last. There is something grounding about the connection between material, maker, and meaning and that’s what Lionwood Creations is really about.
